Sharing The Good News Tailgate

On Saturday, April 15 , 2023 , members of St. Mark’s outreach team held a baseball tailgate in front of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ohio City. We served Hot Dogs, “Grandma’s” macaroni salad, Cracker Jack and delicious chocolate chip cookies. Easter at St. Mark

HE IS RISEN !! HE IS RISEN INDEED !! Easter was spectacular at St. Mark. We had a well-attended, sunrise, liturgical service as well as festival services, with brass instruments, praise music, and organ music, at 9 am and 11 am. The St. Mark choir sang at the 9 am service. Holy Communion was celebrated at all 3 services. On Saturday, April 8th, 2023, the men of St. Mark met at Guido’s in downtown Chesterland to have fellowship and listen to St. Mark member Jim Burke talk about a special program that he has been involved with for the last 24 years, “The Walk to Emmaus”. Concordia Wisconsin Choir at St. Mark

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, The Kammerchor (German for “chamber choir”)Choir from Concordia University, Wisconsin, gave a concert in the St. Mark Sanctuary. The choir sang,” Jesus sprach zy dem Blinden” by Melchior Vulpis along with more contemporary music like Jubilate Deo, by Juan Ignagia Noron’a. St. Mark’s own Annie Ryan is a member of the choir. God’s Gift of Life

On Sunday evening, March 12, St. Mark held its third installment of the series “Lutherans In The World.” Senior Pastor Mark Matzke led the study and provided a comprehensive booklet of resources that covered many “life” issues. Topics like “Care for the Dying,” Abortion, Marriage, Life, and Family just to name a few of the topics that the resources covered. Each month, St. Mark hosts a study on Lutherans In The World. Last month with Pastor Mark we had an overview of the Critical Race Theory. “Love ” Sagna at Trinity Lutheran

February’s meal served at Trinity Lutheran in Ohio City by members of St. Mark featured a Valentine’s Day theme. We also brought clothing donations for the Trinity clothing ministry and food staples for the Trinity food pantry. We served “Love ” Sagna, Italian cut green beens, rolls, and butter along with two special cakes that highlighted John 3:16 from the Bible. The St. Mark fellowship board plans a lot of fun events at church and in the community. This year they extended their outreach to many of those that can’t make it to church on a regular basis for health reasons or because they are in assisted living. Debt Reduction Breakfast

Seems like a lot of our special activities at St. Mark revolve around food. Probably true. When we are not in worship or Bible study or spreading the GOOD NEWS, as a congregation, we like to get together and socialize, and that usually involves a meal. Periodically, we have debt reduction breakfasts that fundraise to reduce the principal on our mortgage, which helped pay for our current church building. January COMMUNITY Lunch

St. Mark Women’s League host a free lunch on the last Wednesday of every month in the St. Mark Fellowship Hall. On a cold and wintry January 26 late morning and early afternoon, a number of hearty souls ventured out to St. Mark for a delicious lunch of ham sliders, cheesy pasta, fruit cups and assorted desserts.
