St. Mark Chesterland joins hurricane relief

St. Mark joined with Ministry In Mission, a Recognized Service Organization of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), to help provide relief supplies for hurricane relief.  St. Mark members loaded the St. Mark church bus, “Prayer Force One” with palettes of freeze dried food, bags of pet food, diapers and cleaning supplies. August Men’s Breakfast

Ryan Jensen, missionary to Northern China, was the guest speaker at the August St. Mark monthly men’s breakfast. Ryan, who grew up in the Chesterland area, highlighted his experiences in China and spoke about a specific opportunity he had to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with a family in China. A Weekend of Plants and Fairy Gardens at St. Mark

Friday night, May 19, 2017 , St. Mark hosted the annual plant sale preview party with a silent auction and a Chinese auction . Pastor Mark did great job as MC..  The venue featured great food & beautiful plants.  It was a rainy evening so the Classic Car Show was cancelled. Family Style at Building Hope In The City

On March 25, 2017, a team from St. Mark boarded the church bus, “Prayer Force One” and headed to Building Hope In The City (BHIC), the urban outreach of Trinity Lutheran Church on the near west side of Cleveland. Serving at Building Hope In The City

On Feb. 25, 2017, St. Mark members served at Building Hope In The City (BHIC),  Trinity Lutheran’s, Cleveland Ohio urban outreach, .  The St. Mark congregation cooked delicious  home made meatloaves. A group of St. Mark members boarded “Prayer Force One” the church bus and served the meat loaves along with mashed potatoes, corn and various deserts to those in need. Mountains As I reflect back on my first Ministry in Mission trip to Haiti, mountains are what comes to mind. St. Mark Handbell Quartet

On January 8, 2017, the St. Mark Handbell Quartet played “Christmas Love and Joy” arr. by Valarie Stephenson at all three worship services. The quartet is a a subgroup of the full handbell choir. Directed by Leah Spisak, the handbells  bring their special music to St. Mark many times during the year. Nov. Community Lunch

November 16, was turkey day at the St. Mark Lutheran, community free lunch. Home made turkey  casserole, home made cranberry sauce , and green beans were the order of the day as well as pumpkin pie and other delicious desserts. “Prayerforce One” the St. Mark church bus made its regular monthly trip to the Chesterland Geauga Senior Center to transport a fun group of seniors to the lunch. October’s mens breakfast featured Pastor and Author Dave Kern from Vitality Church. Dave gave a gripping account of heroin addiction and his efforts to minister to people with addictions. Dave is the author of the book “Raw Truth Addicted and Redeemed.” November’s breakfast at the Rise and Dine Cafe is on Saturday November 5th at 9 am until about 10. September Community Lunch

Every Month the Womens League at St.Mark sponsors a community lunch that is free to the public. This months lunch was special because for the first time, the church bus, known as Prayerforce One picked up a number of people at the Geauga Senior Center located in Chesterland and brought them to the lunch. Serving ” Brats” at Building Hope In The City

This Saturday, Sept. 17,we loaded our church bus known as PRAYERFORCE ONE with brats, buns, mac and cheese, and cupcakes and headed to Building Hope In The City, the local outreach of Trinity Lutheran on Cleveland’s near west side. We also brought canned foods and clothing collected by the St. Mark congregation. The clothing was especially welcome as people were looking towards winter.
