Our stewardship emphasis for October is titled: “Embracing Great Commission Stewardship.” In this three-week emphasis, we will celebrate the joy that comes from being Great Commission stewards. We will also renew our expectations of stewards who are committed to the Great Commission of Jesus (“Go therefore and make disciples…” (Matthew 28:19)).
The three weekly themes are as follows:
- (October 7th) “Receiving the Kingdom Like a Child”
Jesus famously said, “Whoever does not receive the Kingdom like a child shall not enter it.” This message will explore what that means for our receiving and our giving.
2. (October 14th) “Thy Strong Word”
Through faith, we believe that God’s Word is truth, and we embrace it with complete confidence. The Bible is the foundation of our faith and the source of all we teach and preach. In Deuteronomy 8:3 we read, “Man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” Our goal for this Sunday is to “Embrace a Commitment to God’s Word”. We know that God speaks to us through His Word when we spend time faithfully reading and studying it.
3. (October 21st) “Toiling for the Wind—or Working with Purpose?”
Our lives are consumed with work, rest, and money. Each can be used by God to accomplish His Great Commission through us. Are we cooperating?
4.(October 28th) “Commitment Sunday “
